Probing rigging allegations : ‘Decision to form commission is wise’
“And if commission establishes that the elections had been rigged, the prime minister should accept that with grace.”
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court Bar Association President Shafqat Mehmood Chohan on Tuesday hailed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to constitute a judicial commission to probe alleged rigging in the general elections in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s demands. The LHCBA president, talking to APP on Tuesday, said that he admired the prime minister’s political insight in accepting the PTI’s demand. He said a judicial commission comprising judges of the Supreme Court would help defuse the situation. Chohan said that the commission would help set the record straight once and for all. He said the prime minister should set a deadline of 30 days for the commission to report its findings. “And if the commission establishes that the elections had been rigged, the prime minister should accept that with grace.”
