LAHORE: The administration in Lahore has sealed off all roads in Model Town and Faisal Town leading to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri's residence and Minhajul Quran Secretariat using containers, Express News reported on Tuesday.
A large contingent of police has also been deployed in the area.
Meanwhile, PAT workers carrying sticks are present outside the Minhajul Quran Secretariat while some of the workers are wearing masks and glasses to protect themselves from shelling.
Hundreds of PAT workers have been taken into custody in a crackdown against the party by the Punjab police.
DPO Bhakkar Shakir Hussain confirmed that in the past few days, 304 workers taken into custody, out of which 180 were sent on judicial remand to Central Jail Mianwali.
Apart from this, 300 workers were also reportedly arrested from Gujranwala, 150 from Sargodha, 100 from Khushab, 76 from Mianwali, 60 from Multan, 50 from Muzaffargarh, and 25 from Warhi and Ludhran.
Dozens of PAT workers were arrested from other cities in Punjab including Faisalabad, Jhelum, Layyah and Rawalpindi.
