KARACHI:

The city administration initiated on Friday an anti-encroachment and cleanliness campaign on M Rafiqui Shaheed Road, which houses major tertiary care hospitals in the city.

The initiative, taken under the supervision of local government director Rubina Asif, had been taken in response to public complaints about the difficulties in accessing the road where no less than four major hospitals are located, including National Institute of Child Health, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and the Kidney Centre.

Complying with the directives of commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Rubina Asif warned the private organisations running their ambulance services to ensure that their vehicles are only parked at the authorised site and do not occupy any part of the thoroughfare. She warned that otherwise their vehicles will be impounded.
