Provincial development: Balochistan looks to promote fisheries

Pasni fish processing unit would be functional at a cost of Rs25 million during the current fiscal year.

ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan government is taking various measures for promotion and development of the fisheries sector in the province. The government has allocated more than Rs549 million for the development of fisheries sector in financial year 2014-2015. Sources said that the Pasni fish processing unit would be functional at a cost of Rs25 million during the current fiscal year. Boats used for fishing would be upgraded to increase productivity and include better safety standards for the fishermen. Eight workshops will be set up for boat repair in the coastal area of Balochistan. According to sources, fishermen will be provided with sufficient loans on easy installments for the development of the sector in the province.
