Celebrating two decades of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun

Salman and Sooraj are currently working together after a gap of 15 years in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Superstar Salman Khan, who became popular as Prem after his characters in Sooraj Barjatya’s films Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Saath-Saath Hain, celebrated 20 years of his blockbuster hit film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun with the filmmaker on Tuesday. The 1994 musical family drama was hugely successful and besides winning audience appreciation it also won many awards.


Salman and Sooraj are currently shooting Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and celebrated two decades of their hit blockbuster on the sets of their upcoming film. The film is currently being shot in Karjat, Maharashtra. The duo is working together after a gap of 15 years in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. They last joined hands for multi-starrer Hum Saath-Saath Hain, which also did really well at the box office. According to a report, there was a reunion lunch on the sets of the film. A few members of the cast and crew of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun were present for it. Though it was difficult to get together the entire star cast of the film, many members of Sooraj’s family were present for the reunion.

Hum Aapke Hain Kaun is among those movies which became a reason of Salman’s fame today. The musical family drama was hugely successful, with an ensemble cast including big names, such as Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Mohnish Behl, Renuka Shahane, Reema Lagoo and Alok Nath. Madhuri and Salman’s chemistry from the film continues to inspire many romantic sagas made in Bollywood today. The two actors became a household rage, following the success of this mega blockbuster.

The cinematic experience this classic film brings continues to entertain and delight us till this day. The film, about love and family bonds doesn’t just have a heart-warming plot, but even the songs from the film are still a hit at every wedding function.

Priyanka Chopra was also seen rejoicing the 20th anniversary of the film, she tweeted: “Listening to Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai from Hum Aapke Hain Kau  — uski nazar uski haya. How gorgeous was MD [Mahduri] and so fab Salman! What a love story,” reported Bollywood Life.

@Ishan: It was An urban and updated version of Nadiya ke paar. Where in Madiya ke paar the hero oes in bail gaadi and offers ganna to heroine in HAHK he oes in a convertible car and offers chocolate.

Anyway, both movis were made by Barjatyas i.e. Rajashree production who have a history of making only family friendly moies that reflect tradional Indian values. Sooraj's success was that he was able o present those ideas with upgraded production values which would appeal to the youth. That is why HAHK broke the record of Sholay in terms of revenue after 19 years. Its own record remained unbroken for 7 years and not even DDLJ broke it..
