Prank call: Man arrested for bomb hoax

Police have arrested a man accused of making hoax calls during Eid holidays. The suspect called police and told them that bombs had been planted in Hussain Agahi Bazaar and Shah Shams Park.


According to a press release, the man, who introduced himself as Hafeez, rang police on July 28 and told them that a bomb had been planted near National Bank Hussain Agahi Branch and that it would go off in 10 minutes. However, police and bomb disposal unit did not find anything there.

He rang police up again from the same number on July 30 and told them that a bomb had been planted near Shah Shams Park and it would go off within 10 minutes.

The bomb disposal squad and officials of Special Branch visited the site and searched for the bomb, but they did not find anything suspicious.

A special police team, led by the Operations SSP, was then formed to trace the suspect. The team succeeded in arresting Muhammad Yousaf, who has confessed to making the prank calls.
