Exchanging views: Ulema Council to convene all-parties conference

Ashrafi said that the conference was being organised to exchange views on the Israeli operation.

Pakistan Ulema Council chairman Tahir Ashrafi said on Friday an all-parties conference will be convened under the auspices of the council in Islamabad on August 5. Ashrafi said that the conference was being organised to exchange views on the Israeli operation in Gaza and the plight of the internally displaced people.

He said that a liaison committee had been constituted under the leadership of PUC secretary general Zahid Mehmood Qasmi to arrange the conference. Ashrafi informed a delegation of religious leaders that representatives of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Awami National Party and Jamiate Ulema Islam would attend the conference. He said that representatives of minorities would also attend the conference.
