KARACHI: If you are planning to visit crowded places this Eid, make sure to keep your cell phone safe as cellular service providers will not be able to issue a new SIM over the three days of Eid. However, they have advised that in case your phone is stolen, call your cellular service and have your SIM blocked. All cellular companies will keep their call centres open so their customers can call and block their SIMs. “Most militant activities are carried out through stolen cellular phones,” said Citizens-Police Liaison Committee chief Ahmed Chinoy, stressing that anyone whose cell phones are taken should report it stolen immediately. “Unregistered and untraceable SIMs are frequently used for crimes, such as extortions, kidnappings and bombings,” he said.
