PESHAWAR:

IGP Nasir Khan Durrani took time out to appreciate the efforts of the Peshawar police for spearheading the reforms agenda within the department and working during extremely trying times.

“It is an honour for me to command a force consisting of such valiant officers and personnel who continue to work for the safety and protection of the country and its people despite giving unprecedented sacrifices,” said the IGP, while addressing a police darbar or departmental gathering in Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines on Sunday.

Officials of the Capital City Police, Counter-Terrorism Department and Special Branch attended the gathering.

Capital City Police Officer Ijaz Khan apprised the IGP about the law and order situation of the provincial capital as well as the implementation of policies and new initiatives.

Describing policing as a sacred duty, the IGP urged the force to do their duty with devotion and impartiality. He also instructed senior officers to ensure that policemen working under their command use the necessary safety gear while performing their duties.

Senior police officers of the district’s police stations have been instructed by the IGP to visit check posts to inspect the security arrangements in place for Eid. Durrani directed all officers to personally patrol their respective jurisdictions. He also urged the officers to visit policemen deployed in the suburbs and share Eid festivities with them.

The IGP also listened to complaints and issues that policemen were facing and issued directives to the relevant officers for immediate redressal.
