MULTAN:

Police and Multan airport security on Saturday arrested members of a pickpocket gang, who stole cash and valuables from airline passengers.

The suspects targetted passengers form Gulf countries. Police said sometimes they even travelled from these countries to Pakistan and stole from people during flights.

Cantonment police were alerted to the gang’s activities after one of its members was arrested. “The thieves stole cash and an ATM card from Muhammad Saleem, while he was coming back from Saudi Arabia.

One week later, the card was used at a shopping mall in the city,” police said. Police then arrested a suspect, Basharat Ali, from Multan Airport.

Police later took into custody three more suspects.
