Around a dozen suspects were arrested during a search operation in parts of the West district for alleged involvement in the two bomb blasts on police personnel in SITE on Saturday.

The first bomb exploded at around 10:45am near a medicine company in Zia Solony, SITE, followed by the second blast at around 11:40am. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as an extra contingent of law enforcers reached the site of the first blast.

Following the explosions, the bomb disposal squad (BDS) reached the site. According to the BDS experts, the first bomb weighed around half a kilogramme (kg), while the second one was around six kg.

Following the explosions, the police conducted a search operation in Frontier Colony and Pathan Colony.

During the operation, around one dozen suspects were detained. They were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Police sources said that militants were also among the detainees. The cases over the bomb blasts were registered against unidentified militants and further investigation was under way.
