Matric exams: Gorchani orders inquiry into results leak

The education board was expected to announce the results during a ceremony today (Friday).

Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Khan Gorchani ordered an inquiry into the premature declaration of matric results in the city on Friday.


He was speaking to journalists during a ceremony held to formally declare the results of the matriculation examinations.

Officials from the education board said that results of the matric examinations had been leaked to educationists and photocopiers apparently for bribes before being officially declared in a ceremony. The education board was expected to announce the results during a ceremony today (Friday).

Officials said that results had been revealed to people outside the office of the education board before the commencement of the ceremony. Officials also said that staff from an academic institution had started leaking results to their students on a laptop during the function. The man was seen leaving the venue after being pointed out by a journalist.

Dera Ghazi Khan Education Board Chairman Muhammad Anwar said that he would preside over the investigations and ensure that the culprits were held accountable for their actions.

It was announced that 33,636 candidates passed the examinations out of the 48,143.
