Sports extravaganza for a noble cause

'Rootsians' hosted an event aimed to create awareness about spreading peace through education.

Roots School System (RSS) held its annual show titled “Roots Sports for Peace Extravaganza 2010” on Saturday.

The event, held at the school’s Defence Phase II campus, was aimed to create awareness about spreading peace through education. The students performed in front of an audience of more than 600 guests.

The event covered all current issues  through peace messages inscribed on banners. The programme had a number of creative themes and presentations. Rootsians entertained the audience with confidence, vibrant costumes, songs, and aesthetic exhibits of choreography.

Jansher Khan, former squash champion, was the chief guest.  He appreciated the efforts of the young Rootsians. He took keen interest in children’s presentations and applauded their confidence. The chief guest and the parents appreciated the school for its peace awareness initiative.

Mattar alSadhal, Deputy Head of Mission of Embassy of UAE, Mushtaque  Chaudhry, CEO RSS, and Riffat Mushtaq, Director RSS, attended the event.

Roots School System Director Faisal Mushtaq while thanking the audience said, “We at Roots School System have been actively involved in different awareness campaigns for the past 22 years.” He concluded, “Today there is a need to inculcate peace within our society. For that schools are the best platform to spread the message.”
