“After every good performance I am regaining my confidence,” Khan told reporters. “I am trying hard to help Pakistan win and playing my part as a senior player as this is my job. We have one match left so I hope we can win as we weren’t able to defeat South Africa last time in 2007.”
Khan has made a comeback to the national team after being cleared to play by the Pakistan Cricket Board. “When I was out, I tried to improve instead of wasting my time. My fitness is better than before and I see myself more focused.
“I knew that that was not my end. It will come in a better way as I want to do well before leaving the game”
He also expressed hope that Pakistan would win the World Cup, claiming that the team is one of the four favourites to clinch the title next year. “Pakistan is amongst the top four favourites to win and I always give top ranking to my team. If we play to our potential we can win the World Cup like we won the World Twenty20,” said the former captain, who led Pakistan to a memorable World Twenty20 triumph in England in 2009.
