ISLAMABAD: More than 900 complaints related to service delivery have been registered at helpdesks established by UNICEF Pakistan and the Child Protection and Welfare Commission (CPWC) in Bannu for the internally displaced persons from North Waziristan. The helpdesks have been set up at the Bannu Stadium and Commerce College to facilitate the vulnerable women and children affected by the North Waziristan operation. Speaking to The Express Tribune, a UNICEF official said that over a span of 16 days, a majority of cases were lodged by orphans, women without computerised national identity cards and the disabled. A total of 90,750 families have so far been registered at the help-desks, while the National Database and Registration Authority was in the process of compiling segregated data to ascertain the exact number of displaced persons as many families have registered themselves multiple times, the official said.
