Shoot out: ‘Robber’ killed by friendly fire in encounter

Ghulam Rasool was wanted in several cases on charges of murder.

A man wanted for killing two sub-inspectors was killed in a shootout with the police on Saturday.


A Taunsa Saddar police spokesman said Ghulam Rasool was wanted in several cases on charges of murder, illegal possession of weapons and robbery. He said Rasool had shot and killed Inspector Mujtaba in a shoot out on July 14.

He said on Saturday, a police patrol team was dispatched to investigate a robbery report.

He said the team stopped three men on a motorbike on Bharti Road. He said the men shot at the police. Rasool was hit by a bullet fired by one of his own accomplices who fled when the police shot back.

He said Rasool was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

An automatic rifle and four magazines were seized from the site. He said search for his accomplices was underway and the police was investigating.
