PESHAWAR:

The district administration on Friday banned pillion riding ahead of Yom-e-Ali (RA) on Sunday, while kite and pigeon flying in areas surrounding the airport has also been restricted.

All routes leading to prominent imambargahs in the city were sealed to control traffic and security will be beefed up along the procession routes. In an official statement, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zahirul Islam said that Section 144 was imposed on pillion riding for the day due to security reasons.

He ordered police officials to remain vigilant, establish check posts and take strict action against anyone violating the orders. The latest security measures included a ban on civilians carrying weapons. Meanwhile, the DC said he has extended the ban on kite and pigeon flying in the vicinity of Bacha Khan Airport for another month.
