QUETTA: Four people were gunned down outside a mosque in Mehmoodabad area of Satellite Town, Quetta, on Friday.

The four men, a father, son, grandson and their relative, were walking out of the mosque after Friday prayers when armed men opened fire at them. The men received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The bodies were shifted to Provincial Sandeman Hospital for autopsies where they were identified as Haji Ibrahim, his son Mohammed Ayub, grandson Faiz Mohammed and their relative, Mir Ahmed.

The attackers managed to flee the scene of crime.

“Police have received clues and [are] investigating the incident before carry[ing] out raids,” Capital City Police Officer Abdul Razzaq Cheema told The Express Tribune.

One of the victims, Haji Ibrahim, was nominated in an FIR of a murder case. However, his name was withdrawn after victims’ families held talks.

“Three people belonging to an anti-drug organisation, Haq Na Hawaz, were killed few months ago and the victims’ relative had nominated Haji Ibrahim in the FIR,” CCPO told The Express Tribune.

However, the CCPO said later the family withdrew his name from the FIR.

“Police are investigating the incident and will trace the culprits,” he added.
