Verification of votes: Govt ‘unfazed’ by mounting pressure

PML-N official says government has no plans to “physically restrict” Imran's tsunami rally.

ISLAMABAD:

Pressure is mounting on the government with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planning its million march on August 14 and former president Asif Ali Zardari’s endorsement on Tuesday of the PTI’s demand for the verification of votes. However, the government insists that it is ‘unfazed’.

Officials told The Express Tribune that the government “is not worried about the PTI’s planned million march in the federal capital unless major opposition parties join it”.

“The PTI chief has so far made 37 demands from the government and every new day brings in a new demand,” said a senior PML-N official.

Responding to a question about the million march on August 14, he said the government has no plans to “physically restrict” the rally. The government will wait till the last minute and would devise its strategy in accordance with PTI’s final demand.
