Further questioning: Kidnapper sent into police custody

The suspected kidnapper, Amir Khan, was shot dead while two of his accomplices escapes under a cover of fire.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday sent a suspect to physical remand in a kidnapping for ransom case.


The ATC-III sent Malik Mehar Khan on remand after the police produced him and sought custody for questioning. The court handed him over to the police on a seven-day physical remand.

On Sunday, the law enforcers claimed to have killed an alleged kidnapper, arrested his accomplice and recovered a teenager from their custody in an encounter at the kidnappers' hideout near Northern Bypass. Haseebullah, 17, a college student, was kidnapped on June 28 from Mauripur Road and his kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs20 million.

The suspected kidnapper, Amir Khan, was shot dead while two of his accomplices escapes under a cover of fire. A case was registered under sections 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property, etc.) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of Anti-terrorism Act, 1997, at the Mauripur police station.
