Independence day: ‘War heroes to be remembered ’

Minister says the government stands with its army .

Minister for Water and Power Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali said on Friday that on August 14, a ceremony would be held to commemorate the services of soldiers who had died during the operation Zarb-i-Azb.


He said the government wanted to resolve all political issues through dialogue.

He said an independence day ceremony was always held in Islamabad and this year, Faisalabad would also pay tributes to the fallen soldiers.

“Pakistan Army is fighting terrorism and the government stands with the army in this regard,” he said.

He said the government would also ensure rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Earlier, speaking at a meeting at FESCO headquarters for resolution of the energy crisis was an important issue for the government. He said special committees consisting of members of national and provincial assemblies had been constituted on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to monitor duration of load shedding hours.

He said over 3 million people had benefited from the restoration of the grid station in Bahawalpur and Kasowal.

He said Rs921 million were recovered during the campaign against power theft.

He also constituted a load management committee to monitor load shedding in FESCO region.

The state minister said inefficiency and corruption would not be tolerated in the FESCO and corrupt officials would not be spared.
