LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) will introduce a biometric system for its annual elections. The system will be functional by mid-September after obtaining fingerprints of bar members from across the Punjab, LHCBA President Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan told a press conference on Friday. Chauhan said six bar officials would use two machines to get the fingerprints of 21,000 lawyers in two months. He added that their teams would also visit district bars to collect members’ data from across the province. He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to introduce the biometric system so the chances of rigging could be eliminated in all elections. The LHCBA president demanded that the government raise the matter of Israeli terrorism on the people of Gaza on international fora and take practical steps to help the victims.
