LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday asked the petitioner and defendant to present arguments on a petition seeking directions to bar the one-man judicial inquiry from holding proceedings on the Model Town incident. The petitioner, Advocate Aftab Ahmad Bajwa, said the constitution of an inquiry tribunal comprising judges from superior courts went against the honour of the judiciary.  He said several judicial commissions had been constituted in the past but their recommendations had rarely been implemented. He said the government requested judicial authorities to constitute commissions to cover up their wrong doings. He said the judicial tribunal should be barred from holding an inquiry into the Model Town incident. A law officer on behalf of the government said a joint investigation team had already been constituted on the matter. He said the petition should be dismissed. Justice Abdul Sattar Asghar adjourned hearing till July 16.
