KARACHI: Sindh Prisons Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan has directed Prisons IG Nusrat Hussain Mangan to fill all vacant posts as soon as possible after obtaining the government’s approval. He added that in order to beef up security, the jail staff should be made more effective. He gave these directions to the IG on Tuesday. Mangan told him that the first shipment of modern ammunition has been received for the Sindh prisons from Wah Ordinance Factories. The remaining ammunition is likely to be handed over to the government next month. Once the police receive the ammunition, it will help improve security, he said. Wassan said that the prisons required modern equipment to function properly in the prevailing situation. He also called home secretary Niaz Ali Abbasi and directed him to take the necessary steps to fill the vacant posts.
