Renewable Energy: AEDB issues letters of intent

AEDB has issued 24 Letters of Intent (LOI) for on-grid solar photo-voltaic power plants.

ISLAMABAD: The Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) has issued 24 Letters of Intent (LOI) for on-grid solar photo-voltaic power plants with a cumulative capacity of approximately 792.99 megawatts. According to officials, four companies have submitted feasibility studies of their projects, with other sponsors in the process of preparation. The government has planned to generate 1,000MW of electricity through solar power in the near future and 100MW will be generated from the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park. The AEDB has also initiated the Solar Village Electrification Programme and 3,000 solar home systems have been installed in 49 villages of Tharparkar district, Sindh. Another 51 villages in Sindh and 300 villages in Balochistan have been approved for electrification using solar energy.
