KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notice to the provincial prosecutor-general on the bail application of former district and sessions judge, Sikandar Ali Lashari, who is facing trial for the murder of a fellow-judge’s son. Lawyer ZK Jatoi pleaded for the release of Lashari, who is currently in prison in connection with the murder and terror trial being conducted by the anti-terrorism court at Hyderabad. GOR police had booked and arrested Lashari for allegedly ordering the murder of Aqib Shahani, the 20-year-old son of Jacobabad district and sessions judge, Khalid Hussain Shahani, in Hyderabad on February 19. The victim’s family claims that Lashari got their son killed for having an affair with his daughter. During the investigation, police claimed to have found the weapon used to commit the crime on the information of the applicant, which was false, said Jatoi. He pleaded to grant post-arrest bail to his client as the case needs further inquiry. After the preliminary hearing, the bench issued notice to the Sindh prosecutor-general to file comments by July 11.
