All that glitters: Judge directs staff to join investigation

Butt had filed a case against the accused prevented his wife from accessing his locker in the hotel.

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday ordered submission of a police report by June 7 of a theft case against two employees of Pearl Continental (PC) hotel. PC Operations Senior Vice-President Bashir Adrawl and General Manager Haseeb Gardezi were accused of involvement in theft of jewellery kept in a locker maintained by Irshad Butt, a former general manager of the hotel. Butt claimed that jewellery worth Rs30 million had been stolen. The judge directed the accused to join the investigation. In a previous hearing, the accused had been granted pre-arrest bail after furnishing bail bonds worth Rs50,000 each. Butt had filed a case against the accused prevented his wife from accessing his locker in the hotel.
