Upgrade: FESCO approves purchase of 150k meters

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has approved the purchase of 150,000 electricity meters and transformers before July 30. The decision was made in a board meeting.

The meeting reviewed the implementation process on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and directed to execute ERP in Fesco within the time limit of three months so that Fesco could be recognised at an international level. The board directed to replace all defective electricity meters within four months and approved to simplify the electrification system for obtaining new electricity connection to facilitate the new consumers and declared the Town Planning Non Objection Certificate (NOC) mandatory for new connections.

The Board also approved the implementation of an integrated monitoring system of Customer Services Relation Management and Call Centers for the solution of the consumers’ problems through Customer Services Center (CSC) within six to eight months. On the special directives of the Chairman BOD Khurran Mukhtar, monitoring has been started to review the process of implementation on board’s decision so that steps for the welfare of the consumers could be tracked.

On the special directives of the Federal Secretary for Water and Power Nargis Sethi, Chief Executive Complaint Cell has been established in Fesco Headquarters. The basic aim of this cell is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the electricity consumers during the Sehar, Iftar and Taraweeh in the holy month of Ramazan and provide maximum relief to the consumers. The consumers of the Fesco region can register their complaints regarding power outages and technical faults during the Sehar, Iftar and Taraweeh. Similarly, special teams have also been constituted and necessary instructions issued to the Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Sub Divisional Officers (SDOs) for the early redressal of the consumers’ complaints.

Fesco Chief Executive Officer Khurshid Alam would personally remain in the Complaint Cell during select hours to ensure continuous power supply.

Fesco employees also donated their one day salaries for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
