Girl burned to death after rejecting proposal
A young girl was burned to death Saturday night by a man whose marriage proposal was spurned by her parents.
The incident took place in Chak No 296-JB, within the jurisdiction of the City police station in Toba Tek Singh.
Shaukat Ali, father of the victim Sidra, told the police that the accused, Fayyaz Hussain was pressurising Sidra’s family to agree to the marriage. “We refused because he did not belong to our clan,” he said.
Fayyaz reportedly forced his way into the family’s home and doused Sidra in petrol, after which he set her alight. Sidra died en route to the hospital.
Station House Officer (SHO) Saeed Anwar said a case has been registered.
Meanwhile, a man used a nut cracker to gouge out the eyes of his ex-spouse in Bahawalangar district on Sunday after declaring her a bad wife.
Rasheed Ahmed, 40, was married for almost 19 years to 37-year-old Shama Bibi. Ahmed divorced Shama in February.

@PHF: Acts of violence and cruelty are condemned by all in Pakistan and unfortunately happen all over the world. Mirza is probably just some anti Pakistan obsessed Indian guy who is having a joke over the suffering of an innocent woman.

@Reply to PHF: That's what i said earlier. Stuff needs to be constantly highlighted. At the end of the day reporting something is better than not reporting at all. So what if it has been highlighted since 10 years and there isn't much progress. We don't stop bathing daily no matter how dirty we get, right ?
It's because of Bollywood addicted masses.
Dear PHF, Pakistani media is highlighting issues since launch of private TV channels, newspapers and websites, let's say fo the last 10 years. Did you see any improvement in the availability of justice for the society. Highlighting news doesn't guarantee that police and judiciary are working. Until or unless we won't catch the problem from it's roots, it won't be uprooted.

At least if it's highlighted to the world there may be some chance of justice. The only conspiracy that exists is within our own country and i think you are delusional to think we have an excellent reputation.
This must be a conspiracy against us and our country. We do not burn even our dead bodies let alone burning a living person. Let us not change ourselves but try to suppress these kinds of news so that our "reputation" remains excellent in the world.
