Religious leaders asked to help keep peace

Asif urged religious leaders and Islamic organisations to play an active role to ensure peace and harmony in country.

“Islam gives a message of peace. The government is working to restore peace and security in the country,” Sargodha division Commissioner Capt (r) Muhammad Asif said on Monday.


He was addressing religious leaders and participants of the Divisional Peace Committee. The decision to conduct a military operation in North Waziristan was taken in interest of the nation, he said.

Asif urged religious leaders and Islamic organisations to play an active role to ensure peace and harmony in the country. “Prosperity lies behind peace.”

Regional Police Officer Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir urged religious leaders to cooperate with the government to ensure security during the month of Ramazan.  Sargodha DCO Saqib Manan, Khushab DCO Amir Ijaz Akbar, Mianwali DCO Muhammad Khan Ranjha and Bhakhar DCO Malik Mumtaz Hussain participated in the meeting.
