Torn apart: Attackers kill woman, daughter in Khyber Agency

Two members of the same family were killed and as many were injured when unidentified armed men attacked a house in Mulagori sub tehsil of Khyber Agency in the early hours of Saturday.


Political tehsildar of the area, Shakil Umerzai, said armed men barged into the house of Shakil, a resident of Zagga, Mulagori. Umerzai said the attackers killed Shakil’s wife and six-year-old daughter inside his home and injured Shakil and his other daughter.

The tehsildar informed that when officials of the political administration were told about the incident, they rushed to the site and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. Umerzai said both the injured were said to be out of danger and were recovering in the hospital.

He said an investigation into the case is under way and stated that the reason behind the incident had not been ascertained yet.

The official further said a case has been registered against unidentified attackers while 20 people were arrested from the area under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation and shifted to a lock-up in Jamrud.

Abducted

A man was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Friday night.

An official of the political administration said Zahir Shah, a resident of Sor Kamar, was returning home from Jamrud Bazaar at around 10pm when unidentified kidnappers intercepted his vehicle at gunpoint.

The official added the gunmen kidnapped Shah and shifted him to an undisclosed location. He said the political administration has started a search operation for his recovery but no progress had been made till the filing of this report.

Four people including, a trader and doctor, have been kidnapped from the area during the past week as law enforcement agencies continue efforts to recover them.
