Meeting held: Complaint committee formed for operation

Decision was taken during meeting presided over by PM on May 14.

KARACHI: A Grievances Redressal Committee has been formed by the provincial government to attend to the public complaints about the Karachi targeted operation.

The Sindh home secretary will be the chairperson of the committee while Sindh law secretary, Karachi AIG police and Sindh Rangers will be its members. The committee was formed after the decision taken in the law and order meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on May 14 at Governor House.

Moreover, Sindh chief secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, during a meeting in his office on Monday, directed Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) to ensure the cleaning of all the nullahs in Karachi. He also directed that a four-member committee headed by the commissioner be set up with a representative from the KMC, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and local government department to ensure that the task is carried out. This committee will submit its report to Siddiqui.

Hotiana also advised the transport secretary to coordinate with the KMC administrator for the CNG Buses Project under which 23 CNG buses will be made available for the commuters. The Karachi Circular Railway project was also reviewed during the meeting. Implementation secretary Abdul Kabir Qazi, transport secretary M Taha Farooqi, KMC administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqi, Pak Railways divisional superintendent Nisar Ahmed Memon and others attended the meeting.

Separately, Pervaiz Ahmed Ansari was also nominated as member on the syndicate of Mehran University of Engineering And Technology, Jamshoro under the 'Person of Eminence' category for period of three years.
