Earlier, Television channels quoted Wadia as denying the allegations and describing them as “totally false and baseless”. He has expressed shock and disgust at the developments. Preity stated that the intent behind launching the complaint is to “protect” herself. “This is a very difficult time for me and I would like to request the media to respect my privacy regarding this matter. My intention is not to harm anyone, but only protect myself,” she said in a statement.
Wadia and Zinta are co-owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab. According to sources, Preity has accused Wadia of grabbing her hand and abusing her during a cricket match on May 30.
The police are expected to contemplate action against Wadia after questioning witnesses and examining video clips of the IPL match in Mumbai a fortnight ago, which is when the alleged incident of molestation took place. Statements of the two are likely to be recorded by the police later.
