PESHAWAR: The assistant professor of a government college donated blood for the 110th time in his life on the occasion of World Blood Donation Day 2014 on Friday.

The college professor, Naguman Sabih Ahmad, while talking to The Express Tribune said he donated blood for the first time in 1985 and has continued to so since then, completing 110 donations on Friday.

Ahmad has been a registered donor with Duaa Welfare Organisation (DWO) for the last six years. The DWO has been providing blood to thalassemia patients in Peshawar for the past fourteen years.

Ahmad said his eldest son Ali Ahmed, 26, has also donated blood 40 times and younger son Arifeen Ahmed, 22, has done so eight times, while his wife has donated blood 26 times.

I believe blood should be available free of cost to patients who need it and that is only possible when people make periodical donations,” said Ahmad.

He added his aim was to encourage students and young people to donate blood and serve humanity.
