ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek Insaf chief Imran Khan condemned US efforts to ‘purchase the services of the Pakistan government’ to carry out a military operation in North Waziristan.
By linking military aid and the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) payments directly to an operation in North Waziristan, the United States is bribing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government while seeking to discredit the Pakistan Army, said Khan in a statement issued on Thursday.
He was referring to the Carl Levin National Defence Authorisation Act for fiscal year 2015 in the US Congress, which links providing military assistance to Pakistan with Islamabad conducting military operations in North Waziristan.
Under the act, the US administration will also have to submit, twice a year, a report on the security cooperation with Pakistan, certifying that action is being taken against terrorists.
Imran pointed out that conducting such a military operation when most of the groups in North Waziristan are open to talks is ‘suicidal’ as it would result in the displacement of 0.7 million people.
“Those groups who have delinked themselves from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and want dialogue will be turned against Pakistan, uniting the militant forces again”, he maintained.
On behalf of PTI, Imran Khan put forward a set of demands. First, he urged the government to reject this move by the United States and inform the political leadership of the status of the dialogue mandated by the All Parties Conference in September last year.
He also demanded the government ensure that those seeking dialogue are separated from those continuing to carry out acts of terror and to isolate the latter. It must also ensure that all civilians are evacuated from the area of the operation.
Mazari scoffs at Nawaz’s letter to Modi
PTI’s Central Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mazari condemned the prime minister’s approach of continuing to pursue Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also expressed disapproval at what she termed the premier’s indifferent attitude towards the state of affairs in the country at this crucial time.
Talking to the media, Mazari said that instead of focusing on the deteriorating law and order situation, the PM seems busy in writing letters and sending gifts to Modi’s family.
Unfortunately, Mazari stated the PM seems oblivious to the fact that the Modi government has shown no positive response to his overtures, and ironically the PM’s letter to Modi comes in the wake of discovery of Indian weapons in the Karachi airport attack.

Imran khan the great
I cannot understand where Pakistan army is behind people like Imran, Qadri, Chaudrys and Sheikh Rashid.
IK confused mass of protoplasm
The love affair between IK and Taliban continues without shame. IK go get a real job like most people have to make a living and raise their families. It is a novel concept for you and the love for other people's money is dear to your heart.
Mazari blames India for Karachi attacks though Indian PM. Has condemned the Karachi attacks ( so far Nawaz, Zardari or Imran have not done so). However she cannot find a word to condemn TTP who has actually owned the attack. Amazing.
Also it is unclear why an operation against TTP would alienate tose who have separated themselves from TTP?
All Patriotic Pakistanis should applaud PTI for bringing much needed attention for the true motive of the attack and the attackers' use of Indian weapons and bombs to launch the attack. While ET is trying to convince us it is Uzeks, Afghans, or some other group, PTI courageously reveals the Indian hand with proof. Pakistan army and intelligence is doing a great service to this nation. Only if Nawaz would start behaving like the PM of Pakistan, and take India to the UN for this attack.
Those Indians preaching hatred and racism against Pashtoons and Pakistanis should be banned from this website. ET do your job, and censor abusive comments.
@IA: Wow, Note that @IA is thanking himself for writing his own comment!
This is it- one year on, NS and his cronies have failed to deliver any real meaningful results. IK is picking up the sticks and is actually the one guiding the government with his ideas. Come on ET accept it that he is the real light in this darkness. This blog site is just one of the hundereds so it does not matter if you do not allow these comments!!
@IA
Sir I have lost my loved ones because of these attacks - thats all i'd say to rest my case! Thanks but no thanks for all the effort you had put it to write that long essay that i just didn't bother to read right after your first 3 lines :)
Pro Taliban and anti USA - guy needs to buy a new record or at least hire a new speech writer. One of his obvious flaws is that he has no Plan B -- once the Taliban rejected talks he continues on as if nothing happened.
@Usman: If a Terrorist decides to live next to you and a drone attack is targeted, You, your family, your children and the surrounding families will considered "Collateral Damage". Once that is acceptable to you and you neighbors than go ahead.
Do not think, just because you live far away from the hot zone it does not affect you. It would be better if the situation is dealt by our own people rather than asking from people who have absolutely no sympathy for our kind! In the eyes of US, Pakistanis and Muslims are all alike and are expendable. they have no interest in saving Pakistani/Muslim lives as long as they can dictate their self-righteousness.
Do not dehumanise death and do not look for a solution that simply pathes the issue. Every issue has a root cause go after the root cause, what triggered the issue in the first place.
Has fear grasped us so that we have now become blood thirsty and and would go to any means just so that our lives are protected.
Tell me how is that any different from what our "self-proclaimed righteous" leader do. The moment you you start stating that as along as it does not affect me it is Okay!
I leave you with this:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me. Martin Niemöller (1892-1984)
imran khan is right when dialogue started, militant attacks significantly reduced, even after seize fire ended there were very few attacks. despite these facts our military conducted operation to please usa. so they keep sending aid. we r so addicted to this aid. karachi attacks was expected, and so does more attacks in future.our military only have one solution for all problems and thts use of force. therefore they further deterioate things like 1971 east pakistan, then again using force in blauchistan even though tht matter can be resolved polliticaly . now they r doing same mistake. i strongly believe there must be political wing in military. its already 11 years we r fighting this war. this was 1st good opportunity to end this with peace talks
Operations, Operations and more operations seem to be the aim of the Pakistan Army. Will this result in peace or more conflicts? Who is behind these policies of bombing villages and creating refugees? Will someone in the Government say "enough is enough" and let peace and tranquillity prevail? This will happen not by use of force. More killing of civilians in tribal regions means more such attacks on cities of Pakistan. Such reaction will stop if indiscriminate killing by the Military goes on.
Just when we thought you were out.......they dragged you back in again. Oooooh ! this is getting tiresome.
@Sami Khan: Moves freely ? you must be joking. With 6 escort vehicles packed with armed guards not caring about the general public is the typical scene we see in Islamabad when he goes to centarus mall.
people who are against imran khan's opinion should read the history of the british in the subcontinent and they will find tht even the british had to negotiate with these people and they also realised tht by power they could not crush the power of tribal areas! so we better learn from the history and negotiate and talibans should understand that their elders love pakistan and killing of innocent people is not allowed in Islam! i wud recommend to be sensible rather than being emotional thanks and plz dont mind its just an opinion and suggestion!
imran is rite coz history proves that even the british could not rule in these areas by power so had to change their strategy and negotiated so why cant we? why the attention on negotiation was aptly nonserious? can we compare the people who r killing people with us? i think no coz they r not educated and using power may create problems for us so we need to engage them in discussion! we need to work for the development of their areas. yes i also condemn what ever has been done and stonrgly recommend to retaliate but the way of negotiation should be observed seriously from both the sides the government as wel as talibans!
If I disagree with Govt policy I vote, peacefully demonstrate, write letters, I dont pick up a weapons and murder 60,000 innocent Pakistanis and destroy our economy.
If there are groups who want peace, they can demonstrate this by de weaponising immediately.
How can people who blow us up, commit crimes through out Pakistan in the names Islam, do baja bazi in the name of their culture, give shelter to criminals want peace. The Govt should give IK one month (no more) to achieve complete deweaponsiation and compliance with the laws of Pakstan.
Then we should ALL support Pak Army action.
It has been proven again and again that military operations have only increased the incidences of terrorism in our country. If you believe that the results will be any different this time around, keep hoping. That is exactly what Imran Khan has been saying all this time, is it really so difficult to understand?
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Albert Einstein
@Ikram:
Please take me out of your list...am not with IK.
Saim
P.S. I am a Pakistani & I love this country.
Looking at IK's incessant whining, I am not able to figure out if Arvind Kejriwal has turned into India Imrak Khan, or Imran Khan has turned into Pakistan's Arvind Kejriwal. All-in-all, both have proved themselves to be "talk much, do little". Just like Indians have become jaded with AK's publicity antics, it seems Pakistanis are growing tired of IK's shenanigans.
ET will only publish comments bashing Imran Khan. Action needs to be taken against Express tribune people who are involved in bias.
@AK47:
Aren't Pakistan and Taliban on the same side?! Oh I see! Once Taliban cross over to Afghanistan, they are on Pakistan's side and they not on Pakistan's side when they cross back to Pakistan. The irony of it!
@ali: Simple my friend if it is our war why are we getting paid for it. I support an operation against Fazlullah and foreign groups but it should be a local operation done by our own forces. Just go and see Iraq and what US interference has done to that country. Afghanistan is another example. Everyone needs to mind their own business and borders.
Where did my comment go? Criticizing khan shouldn't get a comment censored, should it? All I stated was that this is a typically nonsensical, shameless statement by Khan and if Pakistan fails completely and cease to exist, apologists like Khan will have a big role in that failure.
Sir I respect you and your views but its the time to kill these monsters once for ever.I am all against your view at this time,i dont care if Americans bribe us or whatever we need to cut these terrorists.
Same circumstances.... US bribing a political party to subvert Pakistan resultantly you are roaring. At least world, media, politicians, intellectuals are listening you. .. But...... What your Govt is doing in KPK, your Govt is bribing and assisting a political party in Gilgit Baltistan and your Govt is occupying the main boundaries of Gilgit Baltistan in Shandur and near Badsha Dam.... But.... No world, no media, no politicians, no intellectuals are listening them. Still they are unoriginal Pakistanis.
Whether you are in more trouble or the people of Gilgit Baltistan?
Army is already discredited, remember 1971?
Loser leader, doesnt deserve to be a leader of party, what is he talking He has no feelings of the people who have died
No solid condemnation by IK at Karachi airport attack while he is coming up with all cylinders firing against Waziristan operation.
two questions:
1- Please confirm that there are no USAID programs running in KP, and that your KP government is not benefiting from USAID/LOANs directly or indirectly?
2- If US pays bribe to kill the those who Attacks, mosques, airports, schools and streets and whose partners declare each other thugs, extortionists, kidnappers and all...whats wrong in killing them for free or a US reward?
What a shameful, twisted statement. Typical nonsense coming from him. History will remember these demagogues like him as the people who along with their extremist buddies led to the demise of Pakistan.
IK is the only leader who can move freely all over Pakistan without the fear of any personal mishap to him. By supporting Taliban he is making sure it stays that way. It is country vs. him. He can't be the PM if country survives and he doesn't.
The only true patriot left in Pakistan. Despite some obsessed Indians and fake Pakistanis, we are all with you IK
Mr. Khan please let us know who's side are u on, Taliban or Pakistan?
IK is brave enough to say these things
The Cricketer will say and do anything to protect TTP and other extremists. This man is not patriotic. Something is missing in his ability to comprehend facts. His cognitive abilities have deteriorated drastically. And ludicrous statements are a clear indication he is loosing touch with reality.
Mr. Imran; Do you the history? since Pakistan independence how much the US had been paying to the Pakistan. Even at the first years of Pakistan Independence Muhammad Ali Jinnah took $ aid from US. Then how much army and agencies had earn during Russian- Afghan war, how they earn by the name of Afghan Muhajireen, then 8th October and other disasters and even they earning billions $ by the name of national security and war on terror and on the fake development projects, education, health and basic services in FATA. How much Pakistan earning from US and other nation due to understand that figures. But in-fact the Nation in crisis and really in disasters.....In-fact no one is discrediting army and its agencies....its just their negative role, fake propaganda and injustices. Due to which Pakistani Nation had lost Bangladesh and now Balochistan and may be many more. Their hypocrisy and multifaceted role has discrediting them day by day at all fronts.
I wish he was as swift and forceful when it came to the Karachi airport attack...
Well whatever it is MR IK! Im just glad its happening - I can't believe how low can one go! The young/youth take you as an inspiration - you have a massive influence on them.
Its your duty to lead as a good example and yet you are showing a soft corner for the ones who have taken thousands and thousands of lives.
and yes you were once an inspiration for me too.
Yes, Sire Imran Khan, noble leader of the Pakthoons.Khyber Pakthunkhwa was given to you by Allah, noo external force like Pakistan, which is taken bribes from the Yahood and US can change that.
