Attack on uniform: Two levies officials gunned down

A case was registered against the accused.

Two levies officials were killed on Wednesday when unidentified militants opened fire at a check post in Sakhakot, Malakand Agency.


According to levies official Gul Roz Khan, unidentified militants began shooting at Dawar Kalay check post at 1am, severely injuring two on-duty officials.

Khan added the militants escaped after the shooting, while residents rushed to the site and shifted the injured personnel identified as Arshad Khan and Muhammad Imran to a hospital in Mardan. However, the doctors announced them dead on arrival.

Later in the morning, levies along with security forces launched a search in the area, Khan said, adding sniffer dogs led them to a house in Gulo Shah Kalay. Four men identified as Sahibzada and his grandson Matiullah as well as two brothers Hussain and Faridullah were arrested and shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Constable dies in shooting

Two people, including a police constable, died in Tangi, Charsadda when a rival group shot at them.

Tangi police official Noorullah said Constable Dawai Gul and his friend Jan Muhammad were on their way to the police station when at 10am Jan’s opponents Ziarat Gul, Inayatur Rahman and Jehanzeb intercepted them and allegedly opened fire.

The accused escaped after the firing, leaving the two severely injured. Locals rushed the wounded to a hospital where Jan succumbed to his injuries. Gul was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar but could not survive either. A case was registered against the accused.
