KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has said that the Karachi airport attack took place due to the failure of the Airport Security Force (ASF), Express News reported on Wednesday.

He said that this is not the first time Karachi airport has been attacked. Further, the chief minister confirmed that backpacks were found containing evidence that will help security forces identify terrorists.

Earlier today, a case was registered against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid and other members for Sunday's attack on Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

An FIR was registered at the Airport police station on the complaint of the Airport Security Force.

Sections of murder, attempted murder, Anti-Terrorism Act, Explosives Act and damage to public property were included in the FIR.

The TTP had claimed responsibility for the overnight siege of the airport in which at least 37 people, including 10 terrorists, were killed.

According to reports, 12 ASF personnel, one each of the police, Rangers and Shaheen Air International are among the deceased. The dead also include seven people who were trapped in a cold storage and were not rescued in time. Twenty-six others were also injured in the brazen assault.

He was reportedly trapped in a room when the attack began and was not rescued during the clean-up operation.

@Zaliman:

Gen. Musharraf did the same thing in Balochistan. Instead of appreciating he is facing court cases. Gen Raheel learnt the lesson, he will not do it until properly asked by the govt and he will keep this as a proof.
