KARACHI: A five-member Pakistani squad will be participating in the upcoming 16th Asian Junior Athletics Championship, which will be held from June 12 to 15 at the Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.

Mohammad Waqas, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Afzal, Wajid Ali and Mohammad Shahbaz will take part in the competition, while Brigadier Ghulam Ali will travel with the team as their manager.

An official of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan said that a balanced squad has been selected from the camp and hopefully the players will be able to do well if they manage to keep pressure at bay.

“We’ve got athletes who do well at the national level, but when they go on to participate in international competitions, their nerves make them falter,” he told The Express Tribune.
