Preserving heritage: Advertisement on historical buildings banned

DCO says historical buildings were part of the national heritage and must be preserved .

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal on Sunday imposed a ban on posters and banners on historical buildings across Faisalabad. Addressing a meeting, the DCO said the district administration wanted to preserve historical buildings as they were part of national heritage.

He said no one would be allowed to put posters, advertisements and banners on the Clock Tower, Gumti, Qaisari Gate, Allama Iqbal Library, the District Council Building and the district and session courts as they were important sites.

He added those found violating the ban would be prosecuted.

Ramazan arrangements

As many as 24 Ramazan bazaars would be set up in Faisalabad district DCO Noorul Amin Mengal has said.

He was visiting Islam Nagar Sahulat bazaar to check prices and quality of essential items.

He said relevant officials had been assigned Ramazan bazaar duties and steps were being taken to set up the bazaar a week before Ramzan.

He said price lists should be displayed prominently at the stalls for the benefit of the consumers. He said officers on duty at the bazaars should maintain discipline, cleanliness and security. He said safe drinking water for citizens should be arranged at the Sahulat bazaars.

The DCO said sale of substandard edibles would not be tolerated and action would be taken against those found selling substandard food.

He directed the Labour, Livestock Department and market committee staff to regularly check weights and quality of food.

He said a complaints cell should remain operational to facilitate people.

‘Utilise funds by June 30’

DCO Noorul Amin Mengal on Sunday directed development agencies to ensure utilisation of development funds by June 30.

He was chairing a meeting.

The meeting was told that 91 per cent work on water supply and drainage schemes had been completed in Khurarianwala and Sammundri where Rs64 million and Rs73.1 million were being spent for completion of these projects respectively.

The meeting was also told that 43 schemes of graveyards improvement had been completed with at a cost of Rs74 million.

Over 58 development schemes at a cost of Rs72.4 million are underway.
