LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said on Friday all institutions were answerable to judiciary.

“Judges are accountable to God, the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan, lawyers and the litigant public,” he told a farewell reception arranged in his honour by the Lahore High Court Bar Association.

He said the legal fraternity was obligated to hold accountable anyone who violated the Constitution. However, he said, this authority should be used judiciously. “The law should be applied with great sense of morality and wisdom to ensure stability in society,” he said.

Justice Bandial said lawyers should help eliminate the imbalances, insecurity and discrimination in society.
