KESC announces end of loadshedding for industrial areas

Residents of Karachi also likely to experience some relief as loadshedding schedule reverted to original plan.

KARACHI: Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) announced an end to loadshedding in industrial areas and a reduction in residential areas on Tuesday night.

Residents of Karachi are likely to experience some relief as the loadshedding schedule has been reverted to the original plan after a meeting at the Sindh Governor house last night.

Residential areas will now experience three to four and half hours of power cuts a day while industrial areas will not experience any loadshedding at all.

In the meeting at the governor house, Pakistan State Oil officials guaranteed that the KESC will be given furnace oil at the price of gas. This has allowed a reduction in loadshedding.

On Tuesday, a KESC spokesperson had announced a reduction in the duration of power cuts, saying that the duration would vary from seven to five hours in different areas and that industrial areas would continue to experience the same duration of loadshedding.

Earlier, in a letter addressed to the city’s residents, the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation’s (KESC) CEO Tabish Gauhar blamed the power crisis on improper distribution and allocation of gas supplies to the company.

Meanwhile industrialists in Karachi have withdrawn their strike call against the increase in the prices of electricity and petroleum products.

The industrialists had earlier decided to shut down their factories for a whole day on Wednesday against tariff increases.

KESC shares are the best commodities to be traded in the GCC markets, as going from Saudi owners to the UAE descents. The consumers knows of this it was very well managed by the line man, than by foreign lords. Any way as consumers I welcome the new entity to resolve the issues. Being the sole licensed utility for the city of Karachi the company has neither been able to collect payment from the Governmental account responsible for circular debt. The outdated transmission system from hanging wires encourages pilferage, theft by various crooked ways. If the technology today is deployed as smart metering there is no change of pilferage at all. The promise from Mr. TG for waiver of load shedding for consumers which are not stealing electricity, and making regular payment. When would this be Sir. Our industries which provides employment, provides local protected industry, food, etc., with food, bread, medicines for consumers. Producing electriciity is not a joke. When every consumer has a generator big or small. Could you please fulfil your promise for eliminating load shading, and provide full scale power to paying, customers. As with British Energy taken over by French EDF and now full control with EDF for low cost nuclear power. The regulator has given a clear mandate in policy for Civilian nuclear power license to the private or public sector. Can I meet you some time, and tell you how KESC can go nuclear, with full adherence to the NSG, and IAEA Vienna. The example already quoted of the British Electricity. The first stance for you is to firm up whether you want to stay with KESC or else sell your shares to the Chinese as operators.
