Two Rangers men killed in attack near border check post

Eight alleged outlaws also killed.

SUKKUR: Two Rangers personnel and six other men, including a colonel, were injured when armed outlaws opened fire at their vehicle at the Sindh-Balochistan border on Tuesday. Later, the Rangers and the Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel killed eight alleged outlaws and arrested some more in a joint operation.

A team of Rangers were deployed to guard the gas pipelines at the Sindh-Balochistan border where they came under fire by the alleged outlaws. As a result, Rangers men Aijaz Ahmed and Mohammad Urs were killed, while six other men were injured. The injured victims included Colonel Sarzameen Khan, Muhammad Jawaid, Muhammad Shafiq, Inayatur Rehman, driver Muhammad Ishaq and Muhammad Iqbal. The bodies and the injured men were shifted to a Kandhkot hospital and were later referred to Combined Military Hospital in Pano Aqil.

Following the attack, a large number of Rangers and FC soldiers cordoned off parts of Bhittai Colony and RD-238 and conducted raids. They also came across eight alleged outlaws who were killed in an encounter. The deceased suspects were identified as Wajid Ali Marhata, Zahid Hussain Marhata, Rangeela Marhata, Tando Marhata and others.
