Senior govt official praises health department, Unicef, tribal elders, religious scholars for their efforts.

QUETTA: A senior provincial government official heaped praise on the health department, Unicef, tribal elders and religious scholars for their endeavours against polio in the province.

Not a single case of polio has been reported from Balochistan for the last 22 months, said Minister for Local Government Sardar Mustafa Tareen.

Addressing a prize distribution ceremony at Circuit House Pishin, the minister said:  “It was a collective effort of the civil society, opinion makers and health officials that polio virus has been eradicated from high risk district of Pishin.

Expressing concern over travel restrictions, Tareen shared that Pakistan is a signatory of Millennium Development Goals 2015 and it has to secure the future of the next generation, by devising concerted strategy to achieve success and desired MDGs.
