LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday sought a detailed response from the federal government on a petition seeking the recovery of a missing doctor, Major (r) Mujahid Azeem Tariq, of Green Town Lahore and his son Ali Tariq. The LHC ordered that the reply be submitted by June 19. Dr Tariq’s wife Naseema Tariq filed the petition. Her counsel said he was on his way home on September 6 after Friday prayers when he was abducted. The petitioner’s counsel said his whereabouts were not known since then. He said he could be in the custody of some government agency, but no case had been lodged against him. He said that after the petitioner had approached the LHC for her husband’s recovery, her son had also disappeared. He said police and other agencies had failed to recover the two men even after three months. He requested the court to direct the respondents and produce Dr Tariq and his son in court. Military Intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau have stated that they do not have the father and son in their custody.
