Defying Section 144: Sikh protesters charged

The protesters have been charged with trespassing, assault.

ISLAMABAD: Police registered a case against Gopal Singh and around 225 other Sikh protesters who entered the Parliament House grounds on Friday afternoon. The First Information Report named 15 other Sikh protesters in addition to Singh and also nominated 225 other protesters. According to police, the Sikhs were stopped at Radio Pakistan Chowk but they defied police to march on the Parliament House. The protesters have been charged with trespassing, assault to deter public servant from discharge of duty and violation of Section 144 among other charges.
