Labour care: FWMC sets up health desk for waste workers

Faisalabad Waste Management Company has set up a health desk to treat waste workers suffering from ENT problems. The inauguration ceremony of the health desk was held Liaquat Town on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, FWMC Managing Director Amjad Ali Awan said workers were an important asset of the company. He said the company wanted to ensure workers remained healthy. He told the company was aware that waste workers performed duties in tough and dangerous circumstances. He said in the past, the sanitation and waste workers had been badly ignored. “Rights of workers should be protected,” he said. He said the FWMC had taken a number of steps for welfare of its workers due to which the other solid waste management companies are also following us to provide best care to their workers. Deputy District Officer (DDO) Zia Hussain Afzal said sanitation workers would be vaccinated against various diseases. He said a dispensary had been designated at each town in this regard. He said a main health desk had been established at Aminabad Hospital where specialist doctors would provide treatment to sanitation workers.
