Senior officer and Traffic DIG Ghulam Kadir Thebo has been appointed as Hayat's replacement.
According to Express News, SC had ordered the removal of 177 officers deployed on the Own Pay Scale on May 9. However, no decision had been made on the removal of Hayat at the time.
Hayat had been appointed as IG Karachi on September 6, 2013 to lead the targeted operation in Karachi. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement had expressed reservations over his appointment.

As far as karachi operation is concerned he only targeted MQM.Where is PPP's terrorist? where is ANP's terrorist? Where is Peoples Aman Committee's terrorist? Why police did not kill them or arrest them.The DIG traffic Zulfikar Cheema would have been much better if had been appointed as AIG to monitor the karachi operation but Sindh.gov did'nt do that.This new AIG is also supporter of PPP. It is the biggest menace, be it economy, policing or anything they don't privatization of bleeding state owned enterprises go through, remove officials who actually get things done with more panzies ones who may be upright but can't get the Job done. I am sorry to hear that Shahid Hayat has removed from his post, He was nice, brave & courageous person. Karachi's operation has done nicely due to him. I wish & pray May God give his post back from corrupt system. Good Luck
Supreme Court removed Shahid Hayat. So, I think SC is now going to take responsibility of law and order situation in Karachi. Its Sad.
Is situation in Karachi any better when the operation started. No. He had a free hand. I would have felt bad if the situation was better which is worse so I am happy he is gone. Can a person born and raised in Karachi who understands the situation better be appointed for this Job for Once???

Here comes the change in the viceroyship for the coloney of Karachi. He may be able to teach a good lesson to the citizen of Karachi.
Why was he removed? It must be the judges of the likes of Iftikhar Chaudhry and Jawad S. Khawaja behind illogical rulings like this.
I am at a loss to understand the conduct of the judiciary in our country. Judicial system evolved centuries ago to provide justice to the aggrieved persons. In our country, judiciary is a tool of the mighty and powerful to protect their interests. Starting from Justice Munir judgement in 1954 to the Zafar Ali Shah case, our courts have time and again demonstrated their utmost loyalty to the mighty and powerful. Every sensible man should be alarmed at the activism that our courts indulge into on a daily basis. On the other hand, there is no relief and justice to the poor. Shame on this judiciary.

He is gem of a person. We cannot afford to loose our officers like these, with chaudhry aslam as an example. The police department should value officers like these and should take the best out of them.
