QUETTA: Six people, including a school teacher and two brothers, were shot dead in a gun attack inside a house in Dasht Chot, about 40 kilometre off Turbat city, a remote district in Balochistan on Wednesday morning.

“Armed men barged into the house of Master Abdul Hameed Baloch and opened fire on him and his other relatives sleeping inside the house,” Balochistan Levies official Noor Khan told The Express Tribune.

The incident took place at 4:30am and the armed men managed to escape after committing the crime. “The victims were from the same family and had no enmity with anyone,” Khan added quoting the brother of the slain Master Baloch.

Balochistan Levies personnel shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Turbat where victims were identified as Master Baloch, his two nephews Naveed Lal Mohammed, Naseer Lal Mohammed, Rahim Baksh, Riaz and Mohammed Asif.  “The victims were shot in the head and chest which resulted in instant death,” medics said.

Turbat is a stronghold of Baloch militants where clashes between militants and security forces are common. However, the motive behind this attack could not be ascertained. “The brother of the slain teacher has lodged an FIR against unidentified men,” an official of Dasht Levies said.
