Liam Payne reportedly attempted to escape his hotel room at CasaSur Palermo via the balcony before falling to his death on October 16, according to TMZ.

Newly released security footage from the Buenos Aires hotel shows three men helping the singer through the lobby and toward his room, leading authorities to believe that Payne was trying to find a way out of the building.

A police report acquired by TMZ revealed that a black New York Yankees cap and a Louis Vuitton bag were found next to Payne’s body after the incident. Neither item was seen on him in the earlier security footage, implying he had put them on after returning to his room.

The report also mentions that a hotel worker discovered a brown leather bag on the balcony below Payne’s room, containing a note that said “For Liam,” along with various pills and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

It’s believed the bag belonged to the former One Direction member, who may have dropped it to the second-floor balcony while trying to escape. His apparent plan was to jump to the second floor and climb down again.

However, the plan seems to have failed when Payne lost consciousness and fell to his death from the third-floor balcony. He was 31 years old.

Payne was known for climbing ledges and using balconies as a way to escape.

A source informed TMZ that in mid-September, his bodyguard locked him in a Florida rental home, fearing he was in the midst of a drug binge. Payne later escaped by climbing down using a hose attached to the balcony.

This new theory follows recent footage obtained by the Daily Mail, showing Payne convulsing in the lobby of the Buenos Aires hotel due to drug use.

The footage shows three men, believed to be hotel staff, helping Payne back to his room. One of them also removed a mirror from outside his door to prevent him from damaging it, as he had reportedly done with his room, according to a police report.
