ISLAMABAD:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday adjourned hearing of a bail plea filed by a guard accused of killing Judge Malik Rafaqat Awan on the day of the twin suicide blasts in the district courts on March 3.

ATC Judge Attiqur Rehman adjourned the matter till June 2, after Babar Hussain, former guard of the slain judge filed a request for bail. Hussain has been on judicial remand since March 11, for allegedly killing the judge.

Muhammad Rana, counsel for the petitioner, requested the judge to grant bail to his client. He said the prosecution had failed to provide solid evidence against his client and he should be released. After hearing the argument, the court adjourned the matter till June 2.

Two suicide bombers blew themselves up on the premises of the district courts, killing 13 people including District and Sessions Judge Malik Rafaqat Awan. During the last hearing, the Margalla police submit a charge-sheet saying Hussain shot the judge in panic, an accusation he has denied.
